133. De Morgan's Laws

Allows going back and forth between unions and intersections

(𝑛𝑆𝑛)𝑐=𝑛𝑆𝑛𝑐(𝑛𝑆𝑛)𝑐=𝑛𝑆𝑛𝑐
(𝑆𝑇)𝑐=𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐
𝑥(𝑆𝑇)𝑐𝑥𝑆𝑇{𝑥𝑆𝑥𝑇{𝑥𝑆𝑐𝑥𝑇𝑐𝑥𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐
𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐=(𝑆𝑇)𝐶

We start with the first De Morgan’s Law:

(𝑆𝑇)𝑐=𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐

and substitute:

𝑆𝑆𝑐𝑆𝑐𝑆𝑇𝑇𝑐𝑇𝑐𝑇

to obtain:

(𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐)𝑐=𝑆𝑇

take the compliment of both sides:

((𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐)𝑐)𝑐=(𝑆𝑇)𝑐

since the compliment of a compliment is the set itself:

𝑆𝑐𝑇𝑐=(𝑆𝑇)𝐶
